This thing makes any 10/22 into and shooting machine. Not the easiest to seat, but I don’t plan on taking it apart anytime soon. This went on my son’s Ruger, but any that I get in the future will have one of these put on it asap.
Pros:
- Threaded barrel
- Great barrel
- Great shooter
Best Used for:
- Shooting anything that needs shot

I own three Volquartsen rifles, one Volquartsen pistol, and one Ruger pistol that's customized with Volquartsen parts. When I made up my mind to do an ultralite 22 LR build, the UltraLite barrel was a no brainer. All of their products have my full confidence with respect to the very best quality.
My project is complete and the rifle performs like a champ. 1/2 inch groups at 50 yards from a rest using a Trjicon SRO sight and Aguila hunting ammo. Couldn't ask for anything more.

I don't really use this barrel for accuracy, but when sighting it in at 25 yrds. the first 3 shots were in the same hole.
I was so impressed I moved out to 50 yrds. with 3 more shots all within 1 moa.
I bought this barrel for rimfire challenge competitions, very impressed with it.
Pros:
- Accurate and light weight
Cons:
- cost more than the original price of the gun
Best Used for:
- What ever you need it for

First thing - freeze the barrel & heat (hairdryer) the receiver - I did this and it slipped right in (no pounding, beating, wiggling..), when everything got to same temp- it was locked in! Just make sure to align the channel w/ the extractor and snug down the V-block quickly. I used a VERY light coat of aluminum based grease for rust prevention and ease of install.
Looks great, perfect fit/finish. Mine is paired with BRN receive & Volquartsen CNC Comp bolt. At 15yards w/ red dot it shoots a single hole for 5 shots. With a good scope I'm sure same results out to 50yrd (will test and update).
If you are doing a light weight build, this is the barrel you want!
Got best price on this barrel from Optics Planet w/ a 10% off code.
Pros:
- light weight
- Looks great
- Accurate
Cons:
- I wish the barrel face had been machine flush!
- Instruction on install would prevent folks who don't watch Youtube from pounding, beating and sanding to install
Best Used for:
- Light weight competition build
- Precision target build

I was originally planning on getting a Whistle Pig barrel acculite but found this on sale for not much more and couldn't resist. I bought this strictly for a light weight build, and the weight is great but the accuracy is freaking great. I also plan on getting a can for this build, so having the threads is an extra plus. You can't go wrong with Volquartsen.
Pros:
- light weight
- Accurate
- aesthetically pleasing
Best Used for:
- hunting
- plinking
- Suppressed

I bought a carbon fiber tension barrel 22 cal. with a supreser and it is awesome. It will shoot most any brand of ammo with precision accuracy. It really blowed my mind on how well it performed. I am more than pleased with this product. Volquartsen keep up the good work.

I wanted to wait to review this after I shot it for groups, but Volquartsen is known to be accurate so I don’t foresee that being a problem.
The thing you will first notice about this barrel is that it is LIGHT! I weighed it at just over a pound on my scale, and the bull barrel I was replacing weighed 2lb 11oz so the gun points much easier.
The barrel into the receiver was a very, very tight fit (which probably helps accuracy) and the cutout on the barrel for the extractor is large just in case you don’t line it up just right.
What I had to do was start the barrel into the receiver, and then install the receiver back into my stock and strike the barrel on the ground to get it to go in the receiver. This sounds awful I know, but I defy you to find another way that doesn’t involve striking the barrel. It’s carbon fiber so it’s tough.
At the end of the day it was in, and looks and feels great. Now I just have to shoot it. My old Shaw match barrel was very accurate but was not threaded to accept a silencer. This is the barrel to get as the added weight of a silencer will be offset by the weight savings of this.
Just buy it already!

Super slick!!!! So far I have shot off about 500+ rounds, its very accurate. Looks very cool and it's a head turner. Compared to my other buddies bull barrel, can't really feel the weight difference. I was shoot out in the sun, and compared to my buddies' bull barrel, this remained cooler. It is expensive compared to other barrels.

Great barrel, excellent quality from Volquartsen. I have a few barrels from Volquartsen, but this is one is the lightest...not by much, but every little bit helps, especially in terms of balance. My Ruger 10/22 handles much better. Only down side is the very tight tolerances of the barrel, may require some minor fitting to install to your receiver. This barrel fit my factory Ruger 10/22 receiver, but needed sanding for installation onto my Volquartsen receiver (in all fairness, I'm not sure if this is the result of tight tolerances of the barrel, receiver, or both). On a side note, the barrel took a long time to ship, but it was worth the wait.
Pros:
- very solid
- tight tolerances
- extremely light
Best Used for:
- lightweight 22 caliber rifle
