Outstanding
It works
cycles all the sub-sonic ammo I've used
I'm far from a gunsmith and I might have went at it wrong but I had a heck of a time installing it.
One thing I'll tell you is the charging handle is removable I put a rag over it and used pliers it unscrew it.
The problem I had was getting it i...

Cheaply made Product !
The bolt ran flawlessly for 2 weeks in my takedown 10/22 - cycling the CCI quiet 710-fps rounds.
But around the second week of use -probably a 1000 rounds though it, the bolt started to bind and then stopped cycling altogether - I called the manufacturer and they didn’t know what was going on. We...

Not Well Made
There are three major problems with this bolt. First, poor installation instructions as noted in other reviews, but not a deal breaker. Second, it will not reliably run CCI Quiets, which is the reason I bought it. I have installed this bolt in two different 10/22s with the same results. I have experienced at least a 10-20% FTF problem with both guns with standard 10 round magazines, worse with 25 round mags. Third, the front bottom of the bolt that slides over the awaiting/next round is showing significant signs of wear (loss of metal, not just finish). This bolt has less than 500 rounds on it. So, unless you are looking for headaches and a poorly made product, pass on this. I will be contacting OP and Volquartsen for resolution.

Works great but tough to install
I received the Volquartsen Firefly bolt in a blister pack - on installation instructions provided. I couldn't find any on-line, and surprisingly not even a YouTube video on installing it. I worked on installing it for about two hours, and was on the verge of returning it, when I found the secret and got it installed. Once in, it works great and is reliable!
Here is what I did: 1) Unscrew the cocking handle. Use cloth around it (to avoid marring) and some pliers. Turn counterclockwise. 2) Remove stock, and turn action upside down and clamp the receiver in a padded vise (to avoid marring). 3) Remove the standard bolt. 4) Install the guide rod into the new bolt, with spring in place. 5) Slide the bolt in from rear of receiver. The flat end of the guide rod will hit the inside of the receiver. 6) Apply firm pressure to the pointy end of the guide rod. This will compress the spring. 7) Rock the bolt until the flat end of the guide rod moves forward toward the gun barrel, a little at a time. 8) Keep compressing the spring until you can work the pointy end fully into the receiver. There is a socket to place the pointy end of the guide rod in. 9) Lubricate lightly, and you're done! 10) Reinstall stock on receiver. It says never to shoot ammo over 1000 fps, so I made up a sticker and placed it on the stock: "Use <1000 fps ammo only." You'll have to reinstall the original bolt to shoot normal .22 ammo (>1000 fps). Now I use it with CCI Quiet-22 ammo (710 fps) and it works great. So q...

Pros:
- Reliably cycles low velocity (<1000 fps) ammo.
Cons:
- No installation instructions provided. You have to figure out the one way to do it, and clearances are very tight.
Best Used for:
- Cycling <1000 fps ammo in the Ruger 10/22.

Great Product but be advised
I found this product to be well made as is all Volquartsen products. Be advised...I purchased it to go in my new Volquartsen 22 lr super light custom and it DOES NOT fit in the receiver. There seems to be a "slotted" application on the bolt for this particular receiver and the Firefly bolt is made to fit any STANDARD 10/22 receiver.

Volquartsen Firefly Bolt for Ruger 10/22
This bolt enables you to shoot much lighter loads in your 10/22. I was able to shoot reduced power suppressor loads without any malfunctions at all. I even tried shooting CCI quiet loads, but ran into occasional malfunctions. Volquartsen, however, said it wouldn't work with the CCI Quiet ammunition (which is substantially lower in power than CCI Quiet). The bolt is great when using a 10/22 with a suppressor and the lighter "Hush" type suppressor rounds. I'd highly recommend this if you want to shoot your 10/22 with a suppressor, but don't buy if you want to use it with CCI Quiet ammunition.

Volquartsen firefly bolt
This bolt cycles subsonic ammo very well. It makes the 10/22 very quiet. Ive shot around 500 to 600 rounds and no problems. Had to snug the bolt handle down with a 1/8 allen wrench finger tight wasnt quiet enough.

Best 10/22 Bolt for Sub-Sonic Ammo
I know if you've tried to shoot some sub-sonic ammo out of your 10/22, you've experienced failure to eject and other failures. Buy this bolt and your troubles are gone. It's amazing to see my 10/22 run these sub-sonic rounds so smoothly.
Best bang for the buck you'll ever spend.

As promised
Bolt is easy to install after you figure out charging handle is screwed in and must be removed. Fuctions great with ruger bx 10 magazines as well as they bx 25. Have only used cci quiet 22 lr so far and is nice and quiet with the included recoil buffer pin. Very happy and a great price
