I purchased the Weaver Classic V-3 1-3x20mm Dual-X hunting rifle scope to put on a pistol-caliber lever action carbine that many purists would leave with the stock iron sights. I can't see the rear buckhorn well enough to hunt with confidense so I considered a small scope or a Skinner peep sight, and settled on the Weaver because it offers modest magnification including clear 1x with no limitations induced by my crummy near vision. Doesn't overwhelm the carbine, retains classic hunting appearance if you don't want to look too tactical.
Pros:
- Great price, clear glass, tough, reliable, easy to sight in.
Cons:
- Good but not great light gathering capability. Only 3x magnification.
Best Used for:
- Target shooting or hunting inside of 150 yards

Won't hold zero on my Henry 45-70. I wasted over 100 rounds of expensive ammo trying to get it right. The windage was ok but the elevation wouldn't hold. Sometimes when adjusting it downwards, my 5-shot groups would actually move in the opposite direction (and yes, I can read up from down). Once when I thought I had it almost zeroed, I adjusted it just 1-MOA lower (at 50 yards) and the next group jumped to 4 inches high (that is high, not low). This scope gets overall positive reviews here so I suppose I was the lucky buyer to get a lemon. I returned it for a Leupold VX-2 1-4x.

Needed a low profile scope for my levergun. Didn't want to risk hit or miss chonese quality control. This scope fit the bill, japanese made, good price point. Mounted it on my 44, quick zero and proceeded to put 100 stout 44 magnum rounds downnrange. Scope maintained it's zero perfectly. Considering one for an AR carbine.
Pros:
- Cost and quality
- ease of adjusting
- Confidence
Best Used for:
- Close range , quick aquisition

I own two of these scopes. They are a true 1x that makes for shooting with both eyes open very comfortable. The image is clear and bright, and while there is a very slight bit of distortion at the edges it is not distracting. This scope is also very light, which makes it ideal for the AR platform. I also have a Leupold VX-II, 1-4x (which is not a true 1x) and I consider the Weaver superior and preferable, even though it has slightly less magnification.

I had been searching for a light, low magnification scope for my new Henry Big Boy Steel rifle in .41 Rem. Mag. I had used Weaver scopes years ago, but hadn't owned one for quite some time. It seemed to fit my criteria and with good reviews and an attractive price point I decided to give it a try. When I first opened the package I noticed that the finish on the scope was a near perfect match to the finish on the rifle. The glass seemed very clear and size and weight were as advertised. I'm normally not a fan of scopes on lever action rifles, but after mounting this one on my Henry I think I'm a convert. It actually looks great and will certainly make it easier to shoot with my 61 year old eyes. I have checked it out in various different light levels and it stays clear all through legal shooting hours. The 1X setting allows for easy shooting with both eyes open and the 3X setting allows precision shots at longer distances. I couldn't be happier with my purchase and would definitely recommend this great little scope!

I am normally a Leupold snob for hunting scopes, but I was talked into trying this scope by my brother. I have a Weaver T-36 on one of my target rifles and like it, so I decided to give this scope a try as a general purpose AR optic. Compared to my Leupold with similar specs, I quite literally cannot tell any difference between them--even in low light. The glass is clear and bright all the way to the edges. The reticle is fine in the center for precise shooting and course on the edges for rapid target acquisition. Adjustment clicks are positive enough, and the scope holds zero perfectly. At this level of magnification, there appears to be no reason to spend the money on a Leupold. I like this Weaver scope so much, I ordered another one for my .30-30.
Pros:
- Lightweight
- rugged
- bright
- Clear

This is the best option for me when I combined m6 desires for a scope with light weight, compact size, true 1X setting, quality manufacturer, and affordable price. I was very happy with this optic & have since purchased a second one. There isn't one thing I can find negative - hard for me to think of many products I can say that about. There may be some guys that wish this had a more tactical edge - in appearance, turrets, etc., but that's not the case for me.
Simple, quality, and very light weight!
Pros:
- Affordable
- Lightweight and small
- true 1x (doesn't require eye to focus)

Bought this optic to replace a Vortex Crossfire II 2-7x33mm that I had on my .30-30. The Crossfire II is an excellent scope, it's just that it adds a little bulk to an already heavy-ish rifle. I really liked the idea of shaving off a significant number of ounces off the .30-30 lever action. The Weaver is a perfect combo for the .30-30. With the Weaver balance no longer gets shifted to front-end heavy. And the fast target acquisition of the both-eyes-open 1x is really cool. Especially when you plan on going into areas which are more woodland and dense. My 8yo son told me he "wants a Sniper" (an optic) for his .22LR. Though there are plenty of much cheaper optics that would work great on a .22LR I believe I will opt for another of these 1-3x20mm since they don't add much weight... and I don't want the boy learning to rely heavily on magnification... and realistically for a .22LR this would be all you'd ever need. There is thin amount of ever-so-slight fish-eye distortion around the perimeter of the FOV when on 1x. But the FOV is so nice and wide you don't really notice it when acquiring target, and it's not there when you dial-up the magnification to higher values.
