is this unit only compatible with the leupold mark4?

That is correct. It comes with a specific Leupold cap that replaces the factory one. Nightforce and S&B are also specific as well as others. It is also MOA or MRAD specific.

Is it ok to use rechargable 16340 batteries in these? Expert Answer

The manufacturer does not list that these units can be used with rechargeable batteries so we do not recommend them. The only battery listed as being compatible is standard CR123 batteries.

Product Info for Barrett BORS 2.0 For Leupold Mark 4 M1 13830

Integrated electronic ballistic computer couples directly to the Leupold M1 Rifle Scope acting as the upper rear scope ring. Barrett BORS measures air temperature, barometric pressure and bore line angle. BORS also calculates a ballistic solution for a specific user-selected cartridge eliminating the need for counting clicks, calculating mil dots as target ranges change or using a handheld computer. BORS allows the shooter to focus on environmental conditions, assess the tactical situation and quickly engage multiple targets at varying ranges. Each BORS includes Barrett Ballistic Software, USB to BORS data connection cable, 100 preloaded cartridge table, tool kit and CR-123 lithium battery. Scope is not included. Display: 2 lines, 12 character LCD. 40 hour minimum battery life.image
