The Boyds Hardwood Gunstocks Featherweight Thumbhole Remington 700 SPS Short Action Left Hand Stock Right Hand Action Factory Barrel Channel stock has a traditional thumbhole buttstock commonly found on a Remington 700 SPS (Short Pivot System) RH stock. This gunstock is made for the Short Pivot System (SPS) that utilizes a single piece of stock allowing the shooter to replace the stock without having to remove the buttstock or modify the buttstock. The bottom of the gunstock features slender checkering with a decorative thumbhole and rolled apron with a pillarless forearm. The bottom pillar is color matched exactly to the blued finish of the receiver and thumbhole leaf so the shooting pad doesn't get in the way of the action/forend at an unsightly angle. Due to the hand forming of the thumbhole, shooters thumb must be placed far enough forward on the stock that the thumbhole doesn't interfere with the action or stock placement. If shooting prone, a bipod isn't necessary and the forend can be drilled to accept one.
