Will this barrel work with an aero upper with m4 feed ramps?

Yes, this barrel will work with an upper that has M4 feed ramps cut, but the "big bore" feed ramp on the barrel extension will not line up with the M4 cuts. This should not impact the function of the rifle.

Yes, this barrel will work with an upper that has M4 feed ramps cut, but the "big bore" feed ramp on the barrel extension will not line up with the M4 cuts. This should not impact the function of the rifle.

you are stating big bore feed ramps..meaning a single feed ramp.. correct?

Yes, our .350 Legend barrels use a Big Bore barrel extension with one large feed ramp as opposed to two feed ramps like on and M4 barrel extension.

What type of upper receiver is recommended for best for fit and function?

We recommend using an upper that does not have M4 feed ramp cuts for this barrel. Big bore uppers like the Aero Precision AR-15 XL upper tend to be the most available option.

Considering that the 20" barrel has a carbine length gas port, will it be necessary to use an adjustable gas block to make it function correctly?

No. An adjustable gas block will not be necessary to utilize this barrel. However, everyone's build is different and it can be beneficial for some to use one. For the .350 legend you will want a muzzle device with a 9mm bore such as this: https://www.opticsplanet.com/faxon-firearms-9mm-a2-flash-hiders.html
Many .30 caliber muzzle devices will not be wide enough in diameter to allow a .350 legend bullet to pass through.

What barrel nut should I get?

The barrel nut is dependent on the handguard and not the barrel. Most aftermarket handguards will come with a barrel nut that is specific to their handguard, so my recommendation would be to just choose a handguard and make sure it comes with the barrel nut.
