Most Helpful Positive Review Butler Creek
Very easy to use, even when closed can see clearly through scope
Most Helpful Negative Review Great item if you can make it work, I can't
These pop open all the time, even when in the foam lined rifle case. Given that, they do not protect my optics. I actually measured my optics to order the right size. Cons: Will not stay closed

Worthless, does not stay closed

by SJM, Verified Owner from MI, United States Written on August 10, 2023
The cover part barely sticks to the body that is over the scope. Hard to get it to close onto over the scope and even if it does, the slighest touch and it whips open. Same problem firmly installed on the scope, as well as right out of the new package off the scope. Completely worthless.
Pros:
  • None
Cons:
  • Doesn't stay close

Great for my coast headlamp

by Guy, Verified Owner from OH, United States Written on June 21, 2023
I know this is a scope cover and I love the idea of being able to use it to protect the lens and still be able to see through it. But I bought this particular one to go on my coast headlamp because it slides right over the focusing lens and protects my work headlamp better without running the risk of thinking that my headlamp was off when the scope cover was down.
Pros:
  • durable
  • well made
  • practical
Cons:
  • NOT heat resistant
Best Used for:
  • scopes

Butler Creek blizzard see through riffle/spotting scope covers.

by Kurt Wilhelm, Verified Owner from OR, United States Written on March 12, 2022
I don’t recommend, these don’t stay latched after installing. The plastic isn’t rigid enough and deforms when installed. Don’t waste your money. Unfortunately bought these on a final sale from Optics Planet and can’t even receive a refund

Nice general-use see-thru scope cover

by Rob the independent semi-liberal moderate, Verified Owner from WI, United States Written on July 18, 2021
These are fairly solid construction. Depending on how far you slide them on and how tight the fit is, closing the cap can require a moment of attention, or it won't seal all the way around. Opening is quiet.

Mine worked great for the objective lens for my scope, but not so much for the ocular lens. I had expected problems -- the diopter adjustment is near inoperable with this cover on. Not the cover's fault, but worth noting there may be compatibility problems for lenses that twist to adjust in any way.
Pros:
  • snug fit
  • Easy open
Cons:
  • doesn't fit all lens housings

Best idea since sliced bread!

by Jim, Verified Owner from CT, United States Written on January 10, 2021
Why didn't I think of this. This is great for rainy days, storage, battery checking, and it keeps your rifle scope in a much more ready position. I will add to all my glass! Great products guys. They even send a size guide on the box so you can get the right sized ones every time you order. Chef's kiss! Top marks.
Pros:
  • rugged
  • Storage
  • Ready to go
  • Rain Cover
  • battery check
Cons:
  • None
  • maybe increased visibility over kill flash
Best Used for:
  • All rifle scopes

To tight of a fit!

by Longbearss, from WV, United States Written on January 8, 2019
Fit is so tight that it pulls the cover out of round and it will not close. This is on a leupold freedom muzzleloader scope. Front fit is fine, it’s the rear that was sent to small. Contacted optics planet and they directed me to return them. The problem is I needed them for a hunt!

BC See thru covers

by allenvrice, Verified Owner from TN, United States Written on March 12, 2018
I've been using Butler Creek scope covers since the 90's. I tried a different brand only once and didn't care for them. Have been using Butler Creek only once. I currently have four rifle scopes outfitted with the see thru on my object and the flip up on my eyepiece. I've only replaced one in all these years. It was a see thru on a 50 mm objective that would not stay latched down. The replacement works fine.

Update for use with the Leupold Mark AR Mod 1 3x9 scope

by American123, Verified Owner from WA, United States Written on June 15, 2017
The #5 scope covers are what you want for the eye piece. They are two big (the #4 is to small), but after three wraps of electrical tape they fit like a champ. The Leupold 6x18 Mark AR scope also has the same eye piece diameter (not objective, just eye piece) so the #5 size is also the one you want for the eye piece of that scope as well.

I personally am not bothered one bit that this product didn't fit perfectly, it was $8 compared to the $80 that Leupold wants for their eyepiece covers and I have no reason not to expect a long life of use out of it.

Weapon light cover

by Gramps, Verified Owner from NJ, United States Written on May 27, 2017
I purchased this to protect the bezel on a Surefire Intelibeam light I had just installed on my AR. I had to mount the light pretty far forward on the hand rail that the bezel was close to the muzzle break. I was concerned the bezel would get damaged from any muzzle debris so I added this cover that doesn't have to be opened. I could keep it closed at the range, it would still let enough light thru closed if I forgot to opened it in a emergency. If it doesn't get hit with any debris from the muzzle I will remove it. I know its not the intended use but I wanted to protect my $200 + light.
