Most Helpful Positive Review Laser lyte
This item has worked flawlessly. I have notice when installing, the barrel rifling will turn the item and thus loosening it which causes the laser to not active...just retighten it. No problem. When attempting to align when installing, I find that placing the mark about 11 o'clock will give me 12 o...

Most Helpful Negative Review Disappointed it does not work with Glock Dry Fire Magazine
Works as you would expect it to but I was hoping that by pairing it up with a glock dry fire magazine I would have been able to practice followup shots without wracking the slide every time. However the sound produced by the dry fire magazine is not enough to activate the trigger. Works fine if you...

Save Yourself Money On Ammo

by M from Colorado, Verified Owner from CO, United States Written on July 27, 2024
I recently took a private lesson with a well-known local firearms instructor, and he recommended this gadget as a way to practice at home. As a sort-of novice shooter, this laser device is very helpful for developing intuition about sight pictures. It also is useful for diagnosing grip issues. I set up a target or two in the bedroom and practice a couple of times a week; The laser fits both my 38 special snubbie and my 9mm 1911. The trainer pistol isn't cheap, but neither is 38 special. I think in a few weeks this device will pay for itself.
Pros:
  • Does exactly what the ad copy says it does
  • Laser dot is very bright; You won't miss it
Cons:
  • It's not inexpensive
Best Used for:
  • Training at home

works as advertised

by Jeff, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on July 21, 2024
From reading the other comments, I was worried the laser would activate when the hammer was being pulled back on a trigger squeeze. This is not the case when using a Ruger SP 101.

The laser only lights up on hammer drop as it should. I remove batteries after every session. Ensure you place the laser (roughly) level in the barrel or you will have to adjust the point of impact each time.

LaserLyte Universal Laser Trainer

by Mr .38Special, from TX, United States Written on June 27, 2022
I purchased this for a .38 Special revolver, 3 inch barrel to increase my proficiency between visits to the range (assuming I can find ammo!).
It was easy to adjust the plastic width end to slide in and out of the barrel without slippage.
The enclosed allen head wrench allows for adjustments to where the laser will shine.
It is a very tiny nut to turn so do not force the turning.
This works as expected and I have no major issues.
It is easy to forget to shut the unit off after use and within one week, my batteries died.
Two sets of batteries are included so I was able to use it but now, I cycle through off then on and off again to verify its status.
My only issue is when the hammer is drawing back, the mechanical sound will cause the laser light to project on my target.
This allows me to see where I'm aiming at and allow correction before completing the trigger pull for the hammer to drop.
Unfortunately, in real life, without the LaserLyte Universal Laser Trainer, I need that first aiming to count so I do not want to depend on this "preview shot".
Pros:
  • Accurate
Cons:
  • pricy ,but worth it
Best Used for:
  • revolver

what is this?

by MARION, from GA, United States Written on February 24, 2022
Laser did not work. I contacted LaserLyte and provided all the information on the product/wrapping, etc. They acknowledged receipt of Email
and wanted a whole list of unavailable information. I told them "If you need this much information for $20.00, You need the $20.00 more than I do and you can keep it". I will be very careful about ordering from you in the future.

Unreliable with quiet triger and eats batteries

by Charles, from WA, United States Written on April 17, 2020
I generally dry weapon practice 15 min. at a time. In IWI Masada device did not fire about 40% of time. Likely quiet triger. Made sure device was off after each practice. Finally went to removing batteries after each session. Fifteen bucks in batteries last less than two hours.

This thing works great on my model 686-6

by Ed G, Verified Owner from NJ, United States Written on January 30, 2020
I just got this and I installed it on my model S&W 686-6 6" barrel .357 revolver. I loaded the eight chambers with used shell casings and tighten adapter so that it fits snugly. This thing worked like a charm. I shot in double action at a 13 feet away bulls eye. I didn't even need to adjust wind-age nor elevation. I had original used a single laser bullet and had to continually reset the barrel to fire the same cartridge again and again, with this contraption, I just squeeze the trigger one right after the other. It's great practice tool. I highly recommend it.

Good Practice good product

by Michael Carter, Verified Owner from MA, United States Written on July 26, 2017
I received the product and found it easy to set up. The two sets of batteries are a nice touch. I have practiced with it a few times with a target set up in my basement at 10 & 25 feet. It has helped me find one of my aim problems and has improved a slight flinch issue.
Pros:
  • well made
  • Sturdy
Cons:
  • directions could be a little easier to understand.
Best Used for:
  • Indoors

Review: Laserlyte Premium Pistol Laser Trainer, .35-.45 Caliber

by dvo007, from IL, United States Written on March 12, 2017
Overall, it's not a bad item. It functions well in a Beretta 92fs and the laser gets activated with every drop of the hammer. This makes sense, since it's an all-metal gun and the hammer is fairly loud when it drops. I have not tried it in polymer, striker-fired pistols.

There was a problem initially where the two Allen screws did not effect the alignment of the laser, so I had to carefully wiggle the tip of the Allen wrench inside the opening where the light comes out of to loosen up the stuck fixture. Now they seem to work, but overall I would have expected a better quality build for the price.

Nevertheless, given that it can be used for many pistols in different calibers, it's a good thing to have for dry-firing practice and probably cheaper in the long-run than .22lr conversion kits, which makes it a justifiable purchase.
Pros:
  • Works as described
  • Fits multiple calibers
Cons:
  • Expensive
  • Build quality is not great
Best Used for:
  • Dry-fire practice
