4 stars and not 5 as this rail is just half an inch too long to make it compatible with open sight....

Doesn't fit

by AHW, from United States, MD Written on August 24, 2014
Not only was there a fair about of space when tightened down, the back screws are also too long and prevented my bolt from closing. I did not feel like cutting the screws down, so I returned it and will try another manufacturer....

Doesn't fit... EGW says it's not their problem.

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, WA Written on September 19, 2013
Upon further investigation, many folks are having the same issue. A quick google picture search showed all long action Browning rifles are not aligned properly. It's pretty bad when you can visually see the alignment in lo-resolution web photos! Jim at EGW said that "it was in spec", but obviously he is wrong. The rail sat about 1/8" forward on the receiver and the ejection port alignment was clearly not aligned... Poor workmanship and unwillingness to make things right has made me look elsewhere for my shooting needs!
Pros: None!
Cons: Alignment issues....

The best base that money can buy

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, GA Written on June 20, 2012
This one piece base is one of the strongest and dependable mounting systems available. I've used more expensive bases in the past but the quality of this EGW base is as good or better than the more expensive ones on the market. Paired with a good set of rings, this is the ultimate scope mounting platform.
Pros: Strength, ease of installation, precision machined
Cons: None...

Pretty Solid

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on May 19, 2012
Pretty much what you would expect from a traditional 20 moa rail. This one is great because it is the only company that makes one for the browning a bolt.
Pros: Great value
Cons: No recoil lug...

Works as advertised. Added it to my 270 Browning A-Bolt with BOSS. Changed trigger springs - nice pull, added Nightforce 5.5-22x56 mm Zero Stop. Plan to use this as a basic long range rifle until I select another caliber.
Pros: Easy to intstall
Cons: None...

EGW Browning A-Bolt Picatinny Scope Mount

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, WI Written on November 15, 2011
This was purchased to give a greater range of scope mounting options for a Browning A-Bolt 30-06 rifle. Specifically, to be able to move the scope back farther. The rail did just that. It allowed the scope to be mounted back another couple inches (not that much was needed on my setup, but the option was there). The mount seems very solid and well built. The screw holes lined up perfectly with the factory taps on the receiver. One slight adjustment we did make: Once we had the scope back far enough, the front of the rail mount was in contact with the scope. I dont fault the mount for this, as it is unavoidable. The situation was easily corrected by grinding down part of the front of the mount that was contacting the scope. A metal file would also work, just take longer. Higher rings would also fix the problem, although grinding off part of the mount is usually better since its not a good idea to use higher rings than needed (as I recently witnessed repeatedly at a recent rifle sight-in clinic).
Pros: Exanded scope mounting options, well built
Cons: Pricey, but you get what you pay for...
