Our compact AR-15 Side-Folding Units are ready to deploy at the drop of a hat, ready to save your life snatched it from the cold waters of the strait jacket. They do not rely on a buffer/spring, but rather the mechanical locking systems of the castle nut and bolt, which are activated by a toggle switch on the charging handle. To utilize the locking system on a conventional semi-auto AR, you will need a simple adaptor such as the MP5K or HK-style adaptor which then fits over the AR receiver. This allows the user to go from a semi-static position to a fully collapsed and locked position and deploy the SFU at the drop of a hat. They can then use any standard AR-15 SFP/SFU mechanism, such as the MP5K or HK-style stocks, but the inserts on the buffer and spring must match in thread count to be compatible. This is a threaded part, so be aware that it might require some fine motor work to get it to lock into position.
